LABUAN, April 5 — Labuan’s Ramadan bazaar will return this year for a month from April 13 at eight selected locations with a strict standard operating procedure (SOP) in place.

Labuan Corporation chief executive officer, Dr Fary Akmal Osman said the locations included the Medan Selera parking lot involving 350 bays, Anjung Selera Durian Tunjong, Kompleks Ujana Kewangan and Anjung Ikan Bakar parking bay of Kampung Lubok Temiang.

The other sites are Taman Damai in Kampung Layang-Layangan, Dewan Komuniti Kampung Sungai Bedaun, Anjung Selera Manikar and Taman Mutiara, Kampung Sungai Bedaun.

“Labuan Corporation has given a briefing to the organisers and participants of the Ramadan bazaars with regard to full compliance with the SOP and regulations under the new norm for the control and prevention of COVID-19 virus transmission,” Fary said.

She said the Labuan Health Department would brief the traders on the disease prevention control and food handling regulations.

“It will also conduct COVID-19 screening tests on all the Ramadan bazaar traders for free as a preliminary measure to ensure they are free from the viral infection.

“The SOP such as the availability of the MySejahtera QR Code, sanitation and physical distancing should be adhered to by all visitors and traders.

“They should also strictly follow the designated inflow and outflow routes to ensure the bazaar business activities run smoothly and are well-controlled in line with the new norms,” she added.

Fary said the Aidilfitri bazaria would also be held two weeks before the celebration.

“However, these bazaars are subject to the current COVID-9 pandemic. If the positive cases continue escalating, there is a possibility (the bazaars) will be called off,” she said.
