Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari

Kuala Lumpur May 4 — The Selangor government has announced that it will hold mass screenings in every constituency from May 8 to June 10.

The mass screenings will be free for Selangor residents and will involve two state constituencies each day.

Screenings will begin in Kajang and Semenyih on May 8 using the rapid antigen test kits.

Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari said a contributing factor that led to the rise of Covid-19 cases were “silent carriers” who were unaware they had the virus.

He said these carriers were particularly worrying because they could transmit and infect high-risk groups.

Amirudin said a surveillance programme through active case detection will be implemented under the Selangor Public Health Action Plan.

“Hopefully with this programme, Selangor residents will take the proactive step by undergoing screenings in their area to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in Selangor,” he said.

Today, Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 675. In the past week, cases in Selangor breached the 1,000 mark.
