KUCHING, Sept 17 — Dine-ins will be allowed at restaurants and other food business outlets in the South Zone beginning Monday, said the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today.

In a statement, SDMC said this permission is subject to several conditions, including the need for the business operators, workers and customers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

“Apart from this, owners of the business premises must ensure that the ventilation system meets the standards set by the Sarawak Local Government and Housing Ministry,” it said.

The South Zone covers the districts of Kuching, Bau, Lundu, Samarahan, Asajaya, Simunjan, Serian and Tebedu.

SDMC also said other businesses are now allowed to operate from 5 am to 10 pm just like food premises.

Meanwhile, Sarawak today recorded 3,480 new cases of COVID-19 and three fatalities, one each in Kuching, Sarikei and Mukah, bringing the death toll in the state to 659.
