KOTA BHARU, June 18 — The Central Spine Road (CSR) section by passing Raub town will be opened to traffic on June 25, said Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad.

He said the route involved the overall road alignment in CSR Package 5B and part of the road alignment under CSR Package 5A through the interchange exit near University of Technology Mara (UiTM) in Raub.

“Construction work is expected to be completed by the end of this year but I have instructed the Public Works Department to expedite the instructions to the contractor to complete it before Aidiladha.

“This is because we take into account that more than 500,000 vehicles will pass through the route, especially residents from Kelantan this coming Hari Raya,” he said.

He told reporters after officiating the 46th Annual General Meeting of the Kelantan Malay Contractors Association of Malaysia (PKMM), here today.

Commenting further, Abdul Rahman said the 17-kilometre section of the highway is expected to save users 40 minutes of travel because they no longer need to go through Raub town.

“Although the highway is not yet fully completed, we hope the opening of this exit will provide comfort to users, especially from the East Coast,” he said.

In the meantime, he said another section near the highway will be opened in September through the exit of the Raub industrial area intersection.
