KUALA LUMPUR, March 13 –  King Mohammed VI of Morocco has ordered the dispatch of humanitarian food aid for the Palestinian population in Gaza and the Holy City of Al Quds.

Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, in a statement on Wednesday, said more than 40 tonnes of foodstuffs, including staples, are being donated to the people of Gaza.

According to the ministry, King Mohammed VI, who is also the Chairman of the Al Quds Committee, has given his instructions to the Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency to provide humanitarian aid to the people of the holy city.

“2,000 food baskets for 2,000 Al Quds families will be distributed, and 1,000 meals will be served daily for Palestinians in the city,” it said, adding that the aid also provides for setting up an emergency coordination room in the Jerusalem Hospital.

The ministry said the humanitarian operation for Palestinian populations reflected the commitment and continued solicitude of King Mohammed VI for the Palestinian cause.

“This aid, which coincides with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, aims to alleviate the suffering of Palestinian populations, notably their most vulnerable sections,” said the ministry.
