KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 – National motorcycle company, Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (Modenas) has launched a new maxi-scooter model, Elegan 250 EX, which is compliant with the Euro 4 exhaust emission regulations.

Modenas in a statement today said as an upgraded version of its all-time favourite model, Elegan 250 ABS, the new motorbike is built with additional anti-emission measures to ensure fewer toxins in the exhaust gas are released when the engine is running.

“With the Euro 4 engine, the new Elegan 250 EX will certainly be more fuel efficient and will be doing less damage to the planet,” it said.

Its chief executive officer, Roslan Roskan, said the four-stroke, single-cylinder, single overhead camshaft (SOHC) 250cc engine scooter comes with two years or 20,000-kilometre manufacturing warranties (whichever comes first), many great features, good ergonomics and outstanding after-sales support.

“Overall, this is what people want in a value scooter (which is) reliable and fuel-efficient,” he said.

The company also said that the model spots a fresher and sleeker projector headlamp with LED daytime running light feature to improve visibility at any time of the day for both the rider and other road users, while the signature X-shaped tail lamp greatly enhances the visibility of the bike during night riding.

“Another very useful feature is a USB charger socket strategically fitted near the handlebar, allowing riders to charge their smartphones while on the go.

“The safety feature is kept intact with the dual-channel anti-lock braking system that prevents the wheels from locking up and provides superior stopping power in all weather conditions,” it added.
